The American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) publishes the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI). The opinions expressed in the JCI are solely those of the authors and are not necessarily endorsed by the ASCI.

Open Access

The JCI is an open access journal. All research content is freely available immediately upon publication, and all articles published in the JCI are deposited in PubMed Central (PMC). Users are allowed to read, download, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles under the "fair use" limitations of US copyright law.

The JCI is fully compliant with the National Institutes of Health Public Access Policy. Authors of articles published in the JCI do not need to deposit their articles separately in PubMed or PMC. The Journal is also compliant with policies of other major funding sources, including Wellcome.

The JCI is registered with Securing a Hybrid Environment for Research Preservation and Access (SHERPA/RoMEO).

Reprints

Reprints can be obtained by contacting journal staff at reprints@the-jci.org.

Obtaining permission to use JCI content

The ASCI retains copyright to most articles published in the JCI. Permission to use figures or republish any JCI content can be obtained via Copyright Clearance Center.

Some articles published in the JCI use the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY 4.0). Articles using this license are clearly marked. Readers wishing to reproduce content from such articles should follow the guidelines of the CC-BY 4.0 license.

Citing and Attribution

Please see the "Download citation information" link under "Article Tools" for each article for guidance on proper citation format. For example, see this citation page for the JCI article Amyloid precursor protein–mediated endocytic pathway disruption induces axonal dysfunction and neurodegeneration.

Terms of use

Users of the online version of the JCI have the right to read, download, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles. Use of the online version of the JCI constitutes an agreement to comply with this and the following terms. Any copies, in whole or in part, must include the copyright notice or associated license information. Reproduction of material presented in the journal is governed by the "fair use" limitations of US copyright law (detailed at http://www.loc.gov/copyright/title17/).

In no event shall the JCI or the ASCI be liable for any special, incidental, indirect or consequential damages of any kind, or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data or profits, whether or not advised of the possibility of damage, and on any theory of liability, arising out of or in connection with the use of or reliance on this information. This publication is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Changes in policy or publication may be made at any time. The online version of the JCI is the definitive version and, to the extent any difference exists between the printed and online versions, will prevail over the printed version. Descriptions of, or references to, products or publications does not imply endorsement of that product or publication.
