Isolates were tested in 3 laboratories across the USA. All 54 isolates and 6 laboratory stains
of cytomegalovirus were inhibited by 2.75 µg/ml (11 µmol/l) dihydroxypropoxymethylguanine
(DHPG), some by 0.4 µmol/l. The ID50 values ranged from 3.0 to 5.9 µmol/l. Peak
concentrations in blood in humans of 20-75 µmol/l" can be expected". newline˜ DW
